The Philippines pavilion at the Shanghai Expo 2010. The facade isn’t really that bad, but comparing to other pavilions, it’s kind of ordinary.
Sayang, the Philippines could’ve done more. The inside of the pavilions could be improved if the right people would support it. (Like, the Philippine government perhaps). They featured the Philippines as a performing country (hence the hands on the facade, working hands). They should’ve focused more on tourist spots and the richness of the resources in it too.
It was kind of a waste. We could’ve stood out there. Nevertheless, I’m still proud though! :)
And if you’re wondering why it’s not designed as a nipa hut or anything close to that (because we mostly associate Philippines to that), is because the overall theme of the expo is “Better City, Better Life” and one of it’s core concepts is “Harmony in Urban Life”. Hence the futuristic design.
Props to Australia, Indonesia, and Thailand for a really job well done on their pavilions. Will try to blog every pavilion we visit (but that;s going to be hard, LOL).
Will post pictures soon! :D
